A Must-Try Indoor Adventure for Kids in Nova

So Much to See and Do at LEGO Discovery Center All Year Long

By Macaroni KID Mclean-Vienna-Falls Church Publisher September 7, 2026

Looking for a fun way to keep the kids busy indoors? We recently visited LEGO Discovery Center Washington, DC,  and we had a blast. My biggest tip? Don't make the mistake of thinking you'll “just stop by for an hour or so before lunch.” That was our plan. We failed.  There was so much to do that we ended up eating lunch at 3:30 PM!

Here are a few of the highlights from our visit:

🛝Attractions

🎬 4D Cinema

The 4D Cinema was our favorite! The movie comes with surprise effects that make you feel like you're part of the action. And then there's the HOT DOG. 🌭 You'll know exactly what I mean when you watch the movie!

🧸 DUPLO® Park for Younger Kids

Visiting with younger LEGO fans? DUPLO Park is designed with little ones in mind and is a great place for them to explore, build, and play. There's even a cute little merry-go-round!

🛝 Indoor Playground

Need to burn off some energy between all that building? The indoor playground is a great spot for kids to climb, slide, and play. It's also a nice change of pace when they need a break from building.

☕ There’s a Cafe!

You don't have to leave the LEGO fun when you need a little break. LEGO Discovery Center also has a cafe where you can grab a light snack and a coffee for yourself. Trust me, you'll need it... it’s going to be a long day at the LEGO Center!

🧱 Thousands of LEGO Bricks + Interactive Attractions

Of course, there's no shortage of LEGO bricks to build with! Kids can also explore interactive attractions, LEGO rides, workshops, and plenty of opportunities to get creative.

We even made this cute little LEGO creation during one of the workshops. ❤️

⭐ Our Take

If you're looking for a fun indoor activity for kids in the DC/Northern Virginia area, LEGO Discovery Center Washington, DC is definitely worth checking out. Whether you have a little DUPLO builder, a LEGO-loving elementary-schooler, or a kid who just needs somewhere fun to burn off some energy, there's plenty to keep them busy.

Just don't plan on staying for an hour. Give yourself plenty of time... kids won't leave.

🎟️ Consider an Annual Pass

If you live close enough to visit at least three times a year, I think the annual pass is a great deal!
